The Chief Data Officer is responsible for developing and governing the collection, management and storage of data across the organization and analyzing and deriving insights from data to inform business strategy and value in order to drive business decisions, growth and new products. This role will evolve the data platform and develop extended data capabilities including machine learning, applied AI, data science, data engineering, BI, and strategic analytics to drive continuous business growth. In addition, the Chief Data Officer will provide vision and strategy for data initiatives across the organization and will be responsible for setting enterprise data strategy, governance, standards and quality in collaboration with data stakeholders from across the organization.
Responsibility
Leads the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s (BCBSA) data vision, strategy and delivery throughout our BCBSA and BCBS partner ecosystem. Envisions and defines our information assets, and develops and executes the strategic roadmap to ensure data is well managed and appropriately available to stakeholders. These stakeholders include a broad coalition of significant healthcare industry partners, including the BCBS Companies, BCBSA internal teams, strategic analytics and delivery partners (e.g., Blue Health Intelligence, Consortium Health Plans) and industry collaborators. Seek to maximize value in the marketplace; transforming data into business value and driving data-driven business change. Anticipates opportunities, proactively implements solutions, and ensures day-to-day operations meet Plans’ and market expectations.
Responsible for data quality, availability, interoperability, and protection of our information across our assets while enabling business outcomes through analytics and integration. Govern data stewardship to promote the appropriate use of enterprise data assets and determine, in partnership with Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) leadership, the tools for data warehousing, meta data repositories, operational data stores, enterprise storage management and analytics platform(s).
Builds and cultivates relationships with industry thought leaders, BCBS Plan senior leadership, analytic vendors, Consortium Health Plans, Blue Health Intelligence, to achieve Plan goals and objectives. Identifies and fosters partnership opportunities with industry leading analytics and data providers. Serves to provide a compelling system-wide vision for data that is compelling, value-driven, and aligned to the values of BCBSA and our BCBS companies in support of our members, providers and employers.
